The Abingdon Feeder Cattle Association will offer approximately 1,700 Virginia Quality Assured (VQA) feeder calves on the Virginia Cattlemen's Tel-O-Auction on November 6th at 6:00 pm. Calves will be sold as tractor-trailer load lots (47,000 to 50,000#'s). Several loads available with narrow weight spreads (50 - 60#'s).
Calves are predominantly Angus bred. A typical load consists of 95% black and black-white face and 5% Charolais crosses (with no purebred / "pink nose” included).
All of the calves are:
Weaned a minimum of 45 Days
Feed and water trough broken
Backgrounded on hay, pasture and commodity mix. None of the cattle are backgrounded on “feedlot-type” rations.
Vaccinated according to product label directions for 7-way Clostridials, Modified-live viruses (IBR, PI3, BRSV, BVD I & II) and Pasteurella. Calves also dewormed.
In addition to the Abingdon cattle, other high quality loads of calves will be available from reputable association members from Southwest Virginia.
